Mousesports have staked their claim to the last Galaxy Battles LAN slot after defeating Vega Squadron in a best-of-one tie breaker series.
The all Greek squad are packing their bags for China to compete for a piece of the $150,000 prize pool. This will be their first LAN appearance since Kiev Major early April - having missed out on qualifying for the other events. Mousesports had a spate of sub-par results and their share of struggles over the last season - a course made much more difficult to swallow after a stellar showing and 2nd place result at the Boston Major in December.
The Galaxy Battles EU was a tight race to the finish - going down to the wire with the last matches of day between Prodota Gaming and Vega Squadron sealing the fateful tie for first. The European's upset over the CIS sharks kept Vega out of an assured slot in the LAN and gave Mousesports one more opportunity to snatch up a coveted LAN appearance.
Mousesports were more than amped up for the second chance and didn't waste a moment to assert their confidence and dominance over Vega Squadron. With everything on the line, Mousesports displayed a convincing performance from start to finish - eventually snowballing right through to the end with ease.
Galaxy Battles will kick off with a seeding group stage June 14-15. The group stage will be held as a bo2- Round Robin format with two groups of four. Starting on the 16th of June the main event playoffs will take place on the big stage of the Shenzhen Bay Sports Stadium in a double elimination, best-of-three format with best-of-five grand finals.
