The second day of the Boston Major main event kicked off with Digital Chaos facing Team Faceless in a match where the loser goes home with a bottom eight finish, and the winner survives another day.
Game One
Faceless went with a slightly different draft from what they have shown in the many qualifiers matches they played prior to the Boston Major, choosing to go for a straight forward illusion-based push line-up with Chen, Dragon Knight, Terrorblade, and Shadow Demon.
Everything looked good on paper for FL, but the Singaporean team's draft was countered after Digital Chaos adapted their first phase Rubick pick to include a last pick Legion Commander, a counter to Terrorblade. DC had no problem playing safe during the laning stage, denying FL’s early aggression plan. Chen could not successfully execute any early ganks and was unable to push due to his creep army's inability to survive Luna’s glaives. As a result, instead of being the first to push, FL were forced to defend their buildings.
Without being too action packed, the game was won by DC, who executed better map rotations and made more advantageous trades of objectives.
Game Two
Faceless tried again to develop a pushing strategy around Luna and neutral creeps, picking an Enchantress in this game. However, once again, DC had the perfect counter for that in the first round of picks. Shadow Demon - the greatest Luna partner and counter - and a support Mirana prevented FL from executing their game plan.
Despite the fact Faceless had a much better start, getting the first blood and early pick offs, they could neither properly push DC’s towers nor control the first few Roshan kills. As a result, they had to admit defeat after a weird game where they looked confused and unable to coordinate between themselves.
With their win in the first round of the Boston Major single elimination bracket, Digital Chaos advanced into the quarterfinals where they will face the winner of EHOME vs NP.
