The main event of The Boston Major begun today with Virtus Pro going up against Invictus Gaming Vitality, in the first game of the day. With elimination on the cards right from the get go, both teams were looking to stay in the running in this best-of-three series.

Game One

VP were able to claim first blood in just under five minutes, but iG V were able to hold their own, keeping up with the farm and utilising the Treant Protector, played by Zhang ‘Q’ Yi, to heal their tier one towers back up. With fifteen minutes gone, VP had a 3-2 lead in kills and had been able to keep even with tower trades. But VP made a fatal mistake as they engaged into the iGV team and got wiped off the map as the Treant showed even more of his worth.

With this the Dire team pushed down two tier two towers and claimed a vital lead in the game. But VP hit back hard and fast as they found a better engagement which lead them to claim an aegis. From this point, VP looked like they would control the game as they dropped the Dire’s top barracks just before thirty five minutes.

With VP wiping the iG V team prior to forty minutes they were able to claim another aegis and after pushing down the barracks in the bot lane, iGV threw in the towel and called GG.

Game Two

Once again it was VP who claimed the first blood with a good rotation from their supports, who then made their way down bot and found another kill. But iGV were not about to give up just yet as they found a good fight and took down three from the Radiant’s line up.

iG V were playing smart DotA and did well to slow the pace of the game and give themselves an opening as they managed to drop the melee barracks in the mid lane. They also dropped the bot lane melee barracks and now looked in control of the game with forty minutes passed.

But the game swung at fifty minutes as iGV attempted to take the final tier three tower top lane - but VP were ready and were able to take down three from the Dire line up and proceeded to take down the barracks in the bot and mid lanes. But with VP on the march forward, iGV took an amazing fight in the top lane and claimed the top lane barracks.

In the ensuing fight, which lasted through buybacks and diebacks - with both teams looking like they were on the brink of taking the victory – VP managed to find the right kills and forced the GG call out of iGV. With an amazing climax to only the first game of the Major, series went to Virtus Pro 2-0 and Invictus Gaming Vitality were eliminated from the tournament.

The second series of the day will be EG versus Wings Gaming and you can keep up with rest of the action and news from The Boston Major here.
