Day one EU, SEA and Americas standings in the open qualifiers for TI6

The open qualifiers for The International 6 are without a doubt the most contested ones we've witnessed so far in all four regions. With only one qualifying spot and several strong contenders to advance in regional qualifiers, some of the favorites are already out.

Europe:

All eyes are on Team Secret in the European bracket and as expected, they had no real challenger on the first day of the competition. But, as we get down to 16 teams the race becomes tighter. Team Spirit, Kaipi, Polarity and Prodota, along with the Polish team always present in the tier two tournaments, Alternate ATTax, the Serbian stack of Mitch and MiLAN recently signed with Elements One, the Danish Bears, Trixi’s and Buugi’s FINSTACK, they’ve all made it in top 16 and will have their chance to contest Secret.

South East Asia

In the SEA bracket the big surprise was delivered in the round of 64 when Rex Regum Qeon (PRQ) eliminated the favorites to win it all, TnC. The most notable teams that survived to see day two of the competition are Mineski-X, Extremist and MVP.Hot6ix

America

The American open qualifiers feature The International 5 winners, Evil Geniuses who, like Team Secret, forced a shuffle right after the Manila Major and forfeited their direct invite for this year’s TI. And similarly to the EU bracket, there are a couple of teams looking forward to potentially taking down the favorites.

Plagued with drama, American open qualifiers are now featuring NotToday, a team that was initially invited for the regionals but got disqualified afterwards when Valve realized they actually did a shuffle outside the lockdown period. That leaves only five teams on the list for the regional qualifiers as of now.

A system error from the Faceit platform prevented MFG from advancing in the bracket although they’ve won their matches which triggered a long thread on Reddit, with the issue yet to be resolved.

Apart from that, all the teams expected to reach top 16 have indeed made it through day one. Vegetables Esports, the casters stack, suffered some changes since their last open qualifiers, with the current roster featuring Capitalist, Merlini, Blitz, Fogged and Black^. The five Dota 2 personalities survived day one along with Not Today, Luccinii, EverNova and Shazam who will face EG in the opening game of day two.

Syed Sumail 'Suma1L' Hassan’s brother, Yawar 'YawaR' Hassan, ex member of Digital Chaos, is also participating at the open qualifiers with a team named EG Bulba and also made it to top 16.

At the end of second day in the Open Qualifiers #1 we will know the first four teams, one per region, advancing into the regional qualifiers. Losers will have their second chance starting June 23rd with the Open Qualifiers #2.
