Continuing their path of 2-0s, Liquid swept Alliance in their second elimination match of the day. Liquid are now through to the semi-final whilst Alliance takes home 6th place.
Game one
The laning stage was short lived in this game, with Liquid's Slark and Alliance's QOP moving around the map to find kills very early on. As a result, a sequence of ganks and counter ganks occurred, resulting in a 3-5 kill score at the eleventh minute. This triggered the dance between the two teams, weaving in and out of battle with each other, searching for the first opening. Various openings were found, but none critical. It was not until Alliance's QOP, Shadow Demon and Beastmaster were caught off-guard and slaughtered by Liquid's Timbersaw and Slark at the 38 minute mark that the game started favoring one side. Having gained the numbers advantage after the kills, Liquid charged up Alliance's high ground and established themselves there, left without options, Alliance lost two sets of Barracks. With things looking bleak, the rat went back to their roots and tried to force a base race, but much to their dismay, Liquid pushed faster.
Game two
Adrain 'FATA-' Trinks's Timbersaw showed up once again, starting off the game with a solo kill on Gustav ' S4' Magusson - the second in this series. Liquid's two other lanes after went equally well after Alliance's failure to execute their dual lanes. When the mid-game arrived, it seemed likely that Alliance did not stand a chance after having all three of their lanes shut down; this fact was reflected in the net-worth chart at 15 minutes, with the top three spots going to Liquid's cores. Playing on Alliance's side of the map, Liquid quickly established firm control of the game. However, in the following 25 minutes, Liquid broke down, committing multiple communication errors and uncharacteristic mistakes. These mistakes gave Alliance a glimmer of hope which was eventually extinguished when their two supports and Nature's Prophet were caught out at the 38 minute mark. A successful high-ground attempt followed and a three man Chronosphere sealed the game for Liquid.
