Looking at the way day one went for Group B, WG.Unity and Mineski seemed to be strong contenders to proceed to the second stage. Despite looking almost as good as Mineski, WG.Unity was overtaken - and hence eliminated - by Orange-Taring after the Malaysians finished their matches against WG.Unity and Next Generation eSports with a perfect 2-0 record.
In Group A, Execration breathed a sigh of relief after their spot in the top two was cemented by Mongolz's 2-0 victory over Signature.Trust. This was a surprising result, considering that Mongolz only secured one victory in their games against the other teams.
Among the eliminated teams, Rave's performance is the most notable. The team consisting of three players who've been on the roster since they finished 5th at the Dota2 Asia Championships last year was only able to win one of eight games played.
The second stage of the SEA qualifiers will feature the four advancing teams facing each other in a double elimination bracket, where the winner of the best of five upper bracket grand finals takes the ticket for the Manila Major.
