ESL One Manila: The groups are drawn

With the ESL One Manila LAN event starting in about a week, the groups for the GSL format used by the tournament have been drawn.

The eight teams participating in the event have been split into two groups which will play out double elimination brackets, with the top two from each group advancing. These four teams will proceed to a single elimination bracket where they will face off for the lion's share of the $250,000 prize pool.

The group stage and single elimination bracket games will take place over the course of three days. Day one is scheduled for the completion of group A and B's winner's bracket, day two for the remaining group stage games and day three for the entire single elimination bracket; the winner of the single elimination bracket will be crowned champions.

Group A:

Group B:

This is one of the first major international LANs after the post-Shanghai Major shuffle period and should answer a lot of questions. Many of the teams have yet to play a sufficient number of games to draw conclusions on their performance, and teams such as Secret and EHOME are expected to in the spotlight as they have line-ups consisting of globally renowned players with little to no experience playing in this line-up. Secret has played a total of zero official games and EHOME has managed to achieve two losses, one against Newbee (3-0) and one against VG.Reborn (1-2), since their respective roster changes last month.

ESL One Manila is an upcoming LAN event hosted in Manila, Philippines at the Mall of Asia arena from 22nd to 24th of April. It features eight teams from around the world competing for a $250,000 prize pool in a GSL style format.
