Team Alternate invited to The Defense

In place of 4C&L and Vega, Polish squad Team Alternate Dota 2 received an invite to Season 5 of The Defense.

Team Vega and 4C&L were supposed to play a tiebreaker to decide the final participant at The Defense #5, but both teams decided to withdraw from the tournament in favor of the Game Show Global Esports Cup; this left one slot open at The Defense #5. JoinDota decided to turn to group A for a direct invite and invited group A's fourth placer, Team ATN.

Statement by Adam 'shiru' Pó?torak, ATN's manager:

No matter how skilled the players might be, the most important thing for inexperienced team, like we are, is to prove to everybody (ourself including) what we are capable of. Advancing to phase 2 of The Defense was already more than most people would expect from us.

Now we received a chance to play in a great LAN event and we are not going to waste it. Our previous experience shows that Alternate performs much better in a LAN environment compared to online matches – we are glad that finally we will have a chance to confirm that playing against some top tier teams.” 

Team Alternate Attax is a German eSports organization and their Dota 2 Squad is a Polish stack formerly known as “Let’s Do It”. The squad played well in the groups, but were outperformed and did not make the cut for a spot in the LAN finals. 

The Defense Season 5 is the return of a tournament organized by JoinDota, which was on hiatus for about two years. The tournament recently returned with its fifth season, featuring a bigger base prize pool of $75,000.
