Global eSports Cup mid-day recap: MVP upsets Vega

The mid-day recap for the third day of the Global eSports Cup playoffs. Today, the four teams to make it to the finals will be decided.

Vega vs Complexity:

Game one:

The game starts slow with both teams focusing on farming, rather than fighting. After a combined effort from Vega and three ults commited, QoP drops for a 14th min FB.

The match continues at a very slow pace with a score of only 2-4 20min in. Vega takes Rosh at 21min and starts to push their advantage. A blind blink from QoP results in her untimely demise and with Slardar dropping mid after a failed attempt on Abaddons life, Vega goes in for T3. Anti-Mage manages to take T3 top by himself at the cost of his team's mid melee rax.

Vega returns for the top Barracks and Col has no damage to stop them. Even after a four man QoP ult, Slardar dies twice, tower goes down and GG is called, ending an almost bloodless game.

Game two:

Level one rosh attempt for Col was successful with a healing ward, level one frost armor and Dazzle's healing wave, giving Col a great xp advantage early on. This doesn’t faze Vega too much, since they manage to catch up in the next 10min. Second attempt at Rosh ends up with a team wipe for Complexity resulting in a 10-6 score.

The game continues to fall apart for Complexity as they lose T1 top, get ganked in their jungle and succumb to Vega's insane magic damage resulting in a 20-11 scoreline at 21min in. A Rosh fight breaks out, but despite a marvelous aegis and cheese steal by the Storm Spirit, Complexity drop four heroes with only Lich narrowly escaping.

Things slow down, while both teams wait for next Rosh. It goes bad for Col again. They lose three, lose rosh and are about to lose their mid lane as Vega presses on. They desperately try to defend, but lose Storm, four people dead, bot and mid gone, Juggernaut goes down last and GG is called. Vega takes the series 2-0.

MVP.Phoenix vs Vega:

Game one:

One of the fastest games in the tournament was won by MVP.P, lasting only 14 minutes. The game fell apart for Vega very quickly as they fell victim to the enemy's snowballing Tiny, with a KD of 11-0 by the end of the game. MVP's Bara was also particularly impressive with his 6-1-9 KDA.

Game two:

Vega got off to a much better start than game one, their QOP was able to score four kills by the 10 minute mark. With their quickly snowballing QOP, Vega took Rosh and pushed some towers. However, when Vega made a mistake, MVP took advantage of it and won a teamfight, this quickly led to more won teamfights by MVP and finally, the falling of Vega's throne.

MVP.Phoenix vs Empire:

Game one:

Game starts very slow with Bounty Hunter giving over first blood after a mistake mid.

QoP commits for a kill on Funn1k top, gets trapped by creeps without mana, and a brave Dazzle teleports in and right clicks her to death. Leading to an even 3-3 score at 8 min. While both safelanes were pushing and offlaners were traded, mid Viper finds a wandering Bounty Hunter right under a sentry. To everyone’s surprise the Viper actually had dust on him and got a clean kill.

Game went on quietly untill everyone got their core items, when it turned from a bore fest to a bloodbath with the score going to 25-36 by 27min for MVP. With MVP gaining a lot of the lost momentum from the track kills. MVP moves for some aggressive warding, one at top and bot lane where the T2s were, one mid near entrance to ancients and Rosh as well, to solidify their map dominance.

Empire can’t make a move without MVP knowing and get constantly punished for it with the score going to 27-46 and a godlike streak for QoP. After wiping the entire Empire Team, MVP got a Rosh on top of it all. With that the final push started and after a brief fight Empire had enough calling GG 38min in.

Game two:

Game two starts with a promising draft: Huskar for MVP and Ursa for Empire. With no time to waste, both die at the top rune, Empire getting FB on Huskar but trading the Ursa for it.

From then on it continued at about one kill per minute and a score of 5-7 for Empire with Rosh going their way as well. A bit of a back and forth leads to Empire utilising the aegis and the fresh blink dagger on Ursa to demolish some towers and secure a score of 10-14 at 18min.

The end nears when four drop for MVP mid, godlike streak for Ursa and Rosh going for Empire again. They go in, but the grave disrupts their plans, three drop with the gem and lots of gold going the way of MVP leading to 15-21 on the scoreboard, but Empire strikes back and gets four down with some damage done to T3 bot. One more Rosh and mid rax down, MVP had enough calling a 32min GG final score fo 17-35.
