LGD started day one of the WCA LAN finals on fire after easily taking a best-of-three series off Invictus Gaming, beating them 2-0 with two relatively unorthodox drafts.
The two games featured LGD trying out interesting drafts. In game one, LGD decided to run a support duo that consisted of Bounty Hunter and Naga Siren against the formidable Xu 'BurNIng' Zhi Lei Anti-Mage. In the second game, instead of drafting another interesting support duo, LGD picked up a mid Bloodseeker to go up against IG's Templar Assassin. Although unorthodox, the drafts worked out for LGD, scoring them the clean 2-0 victory against IG.
Besides the 2-0 deciding that IG will proceed to the loser bracket finals and LGD to the winner bracket finals, it also acts as an indicator to how well IG has been doing recently. The 2-0 result could possibly indicate that the hiring of Zhou 'KingJ' Yang as a coach might not be having as big of an impact the team hoped he would have; the 2-0 also shows that IG might not be improving as quickly as the other Chinese teams, considering that IG was slightly favored against LGD by the community, with a 44% (LGD) - 56% (IG) Gosubets odds.
The next match in the World Cyber Arena 2015 will be between HGT and CDEC at 04:00 CEST. This match will decide the opponents of the LGD and IG.
