The qualifier started a while ago and after eight of them, it is finally time for the main event which will feature double elimination groups into a bracket. TI-teams Empire and Virtus Pro are playing.
In the month-long gap between ESL One and The International preliminaries there is not too much going on. At all. However the Esportal League playoffs will provide daily matches between June 25th and July 5th. The qualifier in the final months of 2014 and the tournament was originally intended as an offline main event around April but was later changed to online competition due to it being hard to find a date where all attending teams could commit.
Out of the TI-participants, Virtus Pro and Empire will be playing the Esportal playoffs. Both teams won an invitational qualifier to make it there and are the favourites to take the event. Empire for their recent good runs at MarsTV Dota 2 League and MLG season 1 and Virtus Pro coming in fresh off their DreamLeague championship. The two other invitational qualifiers were won by Ninjas in Pyjamas and 4 anchors. From the four open qualifiers, the teams are Hellraisers, who are down to a three-man roster, mYinsanity, 4clovers and Vega Squadron.
The format as seen above is a double elimination group stage where the top two teams of each group advance to the double elimination bracket. All matches of the playoffs are best of three except for the grand final which is best of five.
