After they lost against EG in the first match yesterday, the Greeks realized that the pressure of this deciding game is actually on EG’s shoulders and chose to approach it with a much more relaxed state of mind. The confidence transpired in their draft, especially the decision to purposely let Wisp slip through. EG took the bait and picked a Wisp – Bristleback combo which, according to the statement that they made in the short winner interview after the match, London Conspiracy was more than prepared to counter.
Having Madara on one of his most played heroes, Phantom Lancer and a mid lane Lina who rushed Aghanim’s Scepter London Conspiracy seemed to struggle in the laning phase and EG accumulated a 10k gold advantage in 30 minutes, mostly due to Sumail’s great plays on his Queen of Pain. EG were running away with the victory but one team fight 33 minutes into the match caught EG by surprise and, what’s more important, with no buybacks on all of their core heroes. London Conspiracy did not hesitate even for a second and seized the opportunity to level two sets of racks. EG’s last attempt to push the Greek base was met by a split pushing Phantom Lancer who forced the North Americans back to their sole remaining tier three tower where, eventually, they lost the last team fight of the match. Amazing comeback and great nerves displayed by London Conspiracy who once again proved that the dark horse role fits them perfectly.
This is the second time when Evil Geniuses fail to deliver at MLG,in the prvious season losing versus Empire in the finals, however, this time around they did not manage to qualify out of the group stage which should put a dent in their confidence.
Left in competition and advancing in the playoffs are: Alliance, Ninja in Pyjamas, London Conspiracy and Fnatic.
