Collaborating with The International 5 Chinese qualifier for their final two spots, EHOME and CDEC, the top two finishers of the qualifier, have been given a spot in MarsTV Dota 2 League. The tournament could be considered a mini-TI because of the ten teams that will be participating in the event, eight have either been invited or have qualified for The International 5. The three other invited teams (Evil Geniuses, Team MY, Virtus.Pro) that will not be attending the event are competing in joinDOTA MLG Season 2 on a clashing date.
Tournament format:
The ten participating teams have been separated to two groups of five and will play a best-of-one round robin to decide the seeding going into the playoffs. The top four placers of each group will go through to the next stage while the last placers will be eliminated.
The higher placing teams will have the right to select their first round opponent in the playoffs. The playoffs will utilize a single elimination format.
MarsTV Dota 2 League will begin on the 3rd of June and run till the 8th. The total prize pool the teams will be competing for is $247,325 including the DotaTV ticket contribution at the time of publish.
