Four weeks of D2CL matches are done and dusted and the EU division could still change drastically as we look towards the last few games needed to be played. The American division has completed its groupstage and is heading towards the playoffs to determine who will attend the Dreamhack Masters in Bucharest.
Only a few more games left from the European group stage and both divisions will soon be well into qualifiers for the Dota 2 Champions League Season 4. The tournament so far has proven to be one of mixed results, as well as quite contrary to form, but the main attraction soon begins.
European Division:
Team Empire have once again proven that the D2CL is very much their stomping ground as they are the only team to have a strong record from the group stages of the tournament. A solid of 9-3 with two games left to play have marked them ahead of their competitors. While the team has been struggling a little of late in other tournaments, losing games that they probably shouldn't be losing, they have shown impeccable form beating Cloud9 in a 2-0 victory in their most recent match-up.
The only other team currently with a positive record in the group stage is Team Tinker. An 8-6 record is not convincing, yet it should be enough to propel them into qualifiers with only a few more games left to be played. This said, there is ample space for change with the last few games still needing to be played. Almost every team has the opportunity to be able to drastically improve their current standing and be able to knock down the current leading positions. Fnatic especially has this opportunity with six games left to be played. The European team however has lately gone through a bit of a shuffle. While they seem to have found their final five, the shuffle and a few DDoS incidents have cost the squad valuable points in the running for the top five. Out of the five games they played last week, Fnatic only managed to win one.
The only team where it is unlikely that they'll make it into the top five is Alliance, currently sitting on a record of 3-7. The Swedes have struggled to find a footing in the D2CL, yet technically have the chance to create a tiebreaker situation if they won all of their remaining four games.
The next match-up is on October the first, Fnatic vs PowerRangers.
American Division:
The American division saw five teams compete four the three reamaining spots as Na`Vi.US sat proudly on top of the group and watched. Sneaky Nyx Assassins, PaiN Gaming and Not Today emerged victorious. SNA had a very strong showing in the group stages, ending on a 7-3 record and are looking good as they prepare for their opening qualifier match against PaiN Gaming on the 4th of October.
The qualifiers will begin on October 3rd where Na`Vi.US will face up against Not Today in a best of 3 that will decide who progresses to the upper bracket finals.
The final groups stage standings are as follows:
