Fragbite Masters returns with €22,000 season

Swedish gaming organization, Fragbite Masters, have just announced a new Dota 2 season as it's second gaming title in the year 2014.

Few minutes ago, Fragbite Masters, announced Dota 2 as it's second gaming title for 2014 besides Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Joining the ranks of one of the many prestigious tournaments to grace the competitive scene, this season of Fragbite Masters boasts a prize purse of 200,000 SEK (~€ 22,400).

The format this season is bit different as compared to it's previous iteration. Twelve teams will be directly invited to participate in this season. They will be divided into three groups wherein top two teams from each group will directly advance to the playoffs, whereas, the bottom teams will proceed towards the 'Consolidation stage'.

Meanwhile, an amateur tournament will be held simultaneously in the background. Open to everyone, semi-pro/amateur teams are encouraged to participate in this event. All games will be played in a best-of-one single elimination format, and then the top two teams from this amateur event will proceed on to join the other teams awaiting them in the consolidation stage.

The consolidation stage will then be held in a best-of-three single elimination format. Top two from this stage will join the other teams in the playoffs.

Pontus Ekilsson, Head of Fragbite has the following to say:

We saw a huge engagement from our viewers in the first season's Dota 2 tournament. This made us realise even more that we'd really love to be a bigger part of this community. Hopefully we'll be able to get the same kind of chemistry for this season

Powered by Com Hem 2014 public, they have also dropped a hint at community funding by stating the general goal of the organizers being to boost the minimum prizepurse of 200,000 SEK as much as possible.
