Lustful for their revenge against DK, Invictus Gaming tore through Tongfu earlier today in two quick games to earn their spot in the grand final of Esports Champion League. iG, possibly the noisiest team in the tournament, will be facing their rival in a best-of-three match-up tomorrow at 10:30 CET to determine who is the undisputed king of ECL 2014.
In the first game of the day, iG picked an extremely push oriented line-up but oddly enough, they did not gather for a five-man push. In fact, Tongfu had the upperhand and took down two towers before iG even got one. Tongfu's small lead quickly dwindled when iG won a 5v4 fight near the Roshan pit which net Ferrari's Pugna a Triple Kill. It was all downhill from there for Tongfu as towers after towers got pushed. 34 minutes in, iG was already knocking on Tongfu's base entrance and after losing yet another fight, Tongfu conceded game one as iG started banging on the barracks.
iG tried another cheesy pick in game two, picking up the Rikimaru and Io combo, a combo that has yet to be seen in China. Initially, iG focused so much on ganking with the Rikimaru that they unattended open lanes and allowed free experience and gold to go to the towers. While they did not execute the combo as well as they could, a series of fights in mid-game pushed the lead in favour of iG. By 30 minutes, it was inevitable that iG had the game in the bag and Tongfu gave up their grand final spot after losing a skirmish.
The upcoming DK versus iG grand final is both team's second encounter in the grand final of a major tour over a past couple of days. The last time DK and iG met was in the groupstage of the tournament where both parties settled for a 1-1 draw. Bet for your favourite team here.
Tongfu will be walking away 10,000 RMB for finishing third in the tournament. The winner of tomorrow's duke-out will bring home 100,000 RMB in cash prize.
