Our favorite players might not be if it weren't for the moms behind them. Today, we pay tribute and honor the real champions of esports. Moms.
Esports is a global industry, touching all four corners of the world and hundreds of different cultures. Economic and social statuses are varied. It spans generations and even through unprecedented times.
Therefore, it stands to reason that esports moms come in all forms. Some are biological, some are grandmothers or aunties, some are soft-spoken while others are tough as nails.
And then there are the other 'esports moms' who are the women who take on the role of mothering and nurturing player in the pursuit of the most successful careers.
Yet, despite all of our differences, moms behind the scenes are fundamentally the same.
They are the original support heroes. They are the real champions, the real MVPs, and often the unsung heroes standing in the shadows or crowds lifting us up to reach for the stars.
So here is to the ones who raised us, supported us, guided us, and shaped us. Who shuttled us back and forth to LANs, net cafes, who adjusted sleeping schedules to watch live games across the world, who traveled the globe to see us take the stage and cheer us on, who answered the phone for every win and every loss.
Who learned to play to help us grind, offer a healing hand or slay an enemy. Who allowed us to pursue our dreams and reach our goals even if they didn't understand or rather see something with a bit more 'stability.
And to the ones who take on the role of 'esports mom' who do everything to ensure our success. Who run ragged at events to make sure everything is in order, coordinating between sponsors, tournament organizers, media, fans, and other teams. Who are busy taking care of health and nutritional needs, providing emotional support, and facilitating conflict resolutions.
So to all the past, present, and future esports moms from all walks of life.
