We all expected a long and tense day two at the GeC studio LAN given the fact that it was the day with the most scheduled games( six best of two series) so everyone was packed and ready to go at the Game Show Studios at 09:00 o’clock in the morning but we actually left around 10:30 from the hotel.
Everything went according to the schedule at the Studio, up to a point when one of the computers in the studio started to create problems. And it took a while until the decision for it to replaced was taken. In fact a new unit was installed around 13:45 CET.
Being in Lithuania for almost three days now we’ve already learned that you need to add plus one hour to whatever you are told.
Here are three examples that have nothing to do with Game Show for you to understand the Lithuanian style. We ordered two dishes from an Asian home delivery restaurant. Of course, we had to nicely ask one of the volunteers at the venue to translate everything for us and to place the actual order because there is no website with an english version. After the order was sent and the restaurant confirmed it took more than two hours to be delivered.
If that is not enough to convince you, take a guess on how much time it takes for a cab to actually come after you order it ? Yes, you guessed it, they will tell you 20 minutes and it will arrive in 30 or even more.
And the most funny part is that the Lithuanians are having no problem with nor do they feel any form of time pressure.
Another cab delay example happened last night when Vega Squadron called for two cabs but only one arrived with the same ETA, around 20 minutes and after another half an hour, Vega decided to call again a cab but from another company.
So it comes as no surprise to see big intermissions between the games here at the Vilnius GeC studio LAN. Luckily yesterday we had SsaSpartan from No Logic Gaming who was full of energy keeping a fun atmosphere in the GS studios and made us forget how late in the night it already was when the last game of the day started.
At 01:05 am we finally arrived back at the hotel after the last game of the day two, with high hopes that this won’t repeat tomorrow, when the most important games of the tournament are scheduled..
