Although my flights took only nine hours, our colleague Toni spent an entire day in the Helsinki airport due to many flight delays.
Same as him a lot of other players got stuck in various airports, weather conditions delaying a couple of flights around the world.
For instance XBOCT missed the player official photo session from last night, being the last one to arrive in Vilnius from Team Empire, No Logic Gaming arrived only with four players due to the same reasons of flight delays while 4 Clovers and Lepricorn got at the hotel around 01:00 am and despite that they still have to play in the first matchup at the Global eSports Cup.
Unfortunately compLexity is missing Chessie for this Vilnius Studio LAN and they are still in search for the fifth player. As soon as we know more about this we will update you on the matter.
But apart from all these “minor” issues everything is pretty cool in Vilnius. The five stars Radisson Blu Royal Astorija official Hotel for the Vilnius LAN is quite amazing, same are the rooms and all the service.
A practice room was set up at the hotel with 20 computers available for the players and of course drinks and snacks are at their disposal. The atmosphere was nice and players looked like having fun there yesterday.
On a side note, during the photo session it was revealed that Funn1k is now officially a Team Empire member as his jersey with the team logo has his name on the back.
Today at 09:30 we started to gather up in the hotel lobby waiting for the Game Show busses to take us to the office building where the LAN will be played. Casters, the first teams that get to play today, (Empire, 4 C&L and NLG) we all were mesmerized by the heavy snow that’s painting Vilnius white as we travel through the city.
Arriving at the Game Show office building where the studio LAN playoffs are held we found a very nice setup. Almost all the offices were adjusted and transformed into practice rooms for the teams. Actually as I’m writing this, Vega arrived and started the practice at the tables behind me while No Logic Gaming are our neighbours.
The actual casting studios (English and Russian) along with the Studio where the tournament is played are top notch, GoDz, Winter and Lumi themselves saying that everything here looks really good.
There is also a relaxing area where players can play console games or just watch the stream, and it seems it’s the most popular room here for now.
As the first game of the Global eSports Cup started the heavy snow in Vilius stopped and let’s hope all the troubles are now gone.
