The opening match of the PGL season LAN finals featured Virtus.pro and Team Liquid fighting in a best-of-three duel, where the Polish squad came out on the top with a 2-0 victory.

The first season of PGL CS:GO league will conclude this weekend, and the top four teams from the online stage have gathered in Bucharest to fight for the Champions title and a $75,000 grand prize.
First to step into the battlefield were Polish and North American contenders, Virtus.pro and Team Liquid. Although, the Polish side was heavily favored in this matchup, Liquid had yet to show why they are considered one of the best North American teams.
The match commenced on de_overpass, which was Liquid's pick. VP started off on CT side, quickly gathering ten rounds. However, after finishing their T side with only five rounds, Liquid kicked off with seven consecutive rounds on the CT side. The match was almost brought to an overtime, but VP showed an outstanding performance in the 30th round of this map and scored the match point for a close 16-14. Even with this loss, Liquid still fought very brave, led by their the newest addition, Spencer "Hiko" Martin, who showed a phenomenal performance during the first map.
The second map didn't bring anything new. Virtus.pro is known as one of the best teams on this map, and guess what? They had a stomping start, rushing to 8-0 on their T side of the map. Despite this, Liquid still managed to recover from this situation and ended the first half with a 6-9 deficit. In conclusion, however, the Polish powerhouse on the CT side was more than the Americans could handle and the match was closed out with a 16-9 score.
The second match of the day will feature a clash of titans. Fnatic and Team Solomid will once again cross their swords. Make sure to stay tuned as this match is scheduled right after the Virtus.pro vs. Liquid match.
