The initial match of the ESL One Katowice offline qualifier was between the North American team, CLG, and domestic team, Gamers2. The NA guys took control of the match into their hands making an early lead of 11-4 at the CT side of de_cache. The second half started extremely well for them as they quickly managed to score the 15th round but that's where they stopped and the Polish team started scoring a round after round all way up until 15-14. At the point where it was looking like we were going to watch the first overtime at this qualifier, CLG clutched the final round for 16-14 and moved on to the winners match while the Gamers2 team were knocked down to the lower bracket.
The second opening match of the group A saw Titan playing against an underdog team coming from Russia, Piter. The Russian side played an extremely well first half in de_cache where they won 7 rounds over at T side, and as they were moving to the more favored CT side they were expecting an upset win. However, Titan managed to make a comeback and prolongued the match, causing the teams to meet in overtime. If it wasn't already looking as an very interesting match, then the fact that it had four overtimes gives even more credit towards it. Finally, in the fourth overtime the French team took the win and prevented Piter of making the first upset at this qualifier.
The winners match, for round 2, featured Titan and CLG. The game was played on de_dust2 and CLG had a very strong first half at the CT side where they won 10 rounds and had a nice amount of the rounds to work with in the second half. The second half brought us more or less the replay of their opening match where they scored 15th round fairly quickly but they just got a blockade when they were supposed to close this match. Titan was coming close and in the end it was 15-14 in the favor of the North American team. As it was looking like we were going into another overtime due to Titan being on fire with the extraordinary play by kennyS. However, CLG denied Titan's chance for overtime and took the 16-14 win, qualifying for the main event.
Counter Logic Gaming qualifying for ESL One Katowice
Counter Logic Gaming showed good teamplay in their matches, where in the first Cutler was the most enthusiastic player; topping the score board. In their second game we could see tarik and ptr doing repeating the same level of play in order to win the game.
