CIS Championship announced with $10,000 prize pool

Following his success with the CIS Rising league, Andrey "MPKBK" Ermakov announces a new project called CIS Championship.

A CIS Rising league organizer, Andrey "MPKBK" Ermakov, has announced a new project for the CIS scene called CIS Championship. The event will take place on 10-12 April and will be held at the city of Voronezh, Russia. The prize pool is set to $10,000 where the eight teams will be fighting for the lion's share, and the title as a CIS champion team.

I am very glad that I was able to organize a CIS championship. I hope we will be able to hold tournaments in this format every six months. - Andrey "MPKBK" Ermakov had to say.

The partictipating list will be filled with the four invited teams and four teams coming from online qualifiers. This structure allows all the lesser known teams from CIS region to fight their way through and grab a slot at the main event. The organizers haven't announced any invited teams yet, but we learnt that they are in talks with some of the biggest names of the CIS scene, Natus Vincere, HellRaisers, FlipSid3 Tactics and with their recent success, PiTER.

The structure of this tournament is set to feature a two groups of four teams. They will use a GSL system with the best-of-three series. All eight teams will then continue in the playoff stage where they will be placed into the single-elimination bracket. All playoffs matches will be played in a best-of-three format, except the grand finals which will be a best-of-five match.

The group stage will be played on 10th of April, while the quarter final matches will commence on 11th. The semi finals and grand finals are scheduled for 12th. The organizers have also said that the english cast will be provided from the venue, but it's still unknown who will be on the lineup.
