Zonic announces possible return

The Danish Counter-Strike 1.6 legend has given his fans optimism that he could return to the competitive scene in the near future.

Danny "zonic" Sørensen was last seen playing Counter-Strike with mousesports in 2012, whereupon he announced his retirement following the close of their CS division. Having no professional CS:GO experience on his resume, zonic is best remembered for his long spell on Team NoA and mTw, where he played 1.6 at its highest level from 2006 to 2011. He is the winner of many prestigious titles, including WCG and ESWC. Widely acknowledged as the most polished and decorated player hailing from Denmark, zonic's potential return to the scene would no doubt be well received by long-time CS fans.

Sørensen has been streaming himself playing CS:GO quite a bit the past few days, which has caught the attention of many. He took to facebook to provide an answer to what everyone has been asking: would he return?

Ever since my retirement back in 2012 it is no secret that I have been wanting to play as it has been a great part of my life and the joy of having competition in your life and the possibilities of travelling around the World is something that I miss dearly.

However, being on the scene for many years means that I am "not" young anymore (28 years old >_<) and with the expenses of car, bills, rent, loan etc. means that I cannot return to professional gaming without some sort of income.

A few weeks back I was approached by a guy who wanted me to return to professional gaming, and maybe (AND ONLY MAYBE!) will that happen in the nearest future. There are currently 4318 who likes my Facebook page and you guys are the majority reason for me to consider returning!

However, a return to professional gaming for me is obviosuly not the same if I wouldn't play with some former mTw lads.

I goddamn miss playing CS and I am starting to fall in love with "the devil" (CS:GO!).

It will be interesting to see if zonic can convince some of his old NoA/mTw teammates (ave, MJE, sunde, whimp) to try a comeback in CS:GO, a game that plays significantly different than what old school players were accustomed to in 1.6. Nevertheless, it is encouraging to see former professional players return to the scene in any capacity.
