Day 1 started off with the best set of the day on the stream, but overall the matches all showed some great comp matches and showcased the best and brightest in WoW Arena today. The first match showed why the Koreans came to the US for this tournament and showed that they haven’t dropped a beat since changing names/sponsors and adding a new player to their roster. Not everyone got to play since it was a short schedule, but the big names are already on top of their groups with a win a piece, here are the brackets followed by some play-by-play of the streamed matches.
Quick Notes about the brackets, they are ranked on win/loss also win-in each set which is why some who haven't played are above those who have played. Also PK Cards is out with a member being ill and apparently Team Fierce didn't bother showing up to their match. Also interesting of note is this is the first time I've seen specific websites sponsoring teams (Skill Capped, Nerd Stomper) which are premium (for pay) WoW Arena community sites. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the games play out tomorrow.

Loaded Black (rogue/mage/priest) vs. Arena Pwnage (druid/shaman/priest)
Game 1 - Ruins of Lorderon, Sat on bloodlust and were able to destroy Numberone and won the first match. Loaded Black was able to get Arena Pwnage’s druid to intervate but Orangemarmalade didn’t get a dispell up on it. So 1-0 Arena Pwnage.
Game 2 - Blade’s Edge, bit of a long drawn out game, but Arena Pwnage switched to the rogue when he didn’t have cloak of shadows up and were able to drop him and seperate him from Numberone. Arena Pwnage 2-0.
Game 3 - Blade’s Edge, Open on Novoz, switch to Warchief as Loaded Black puts the pressure on early, Warchief dropped to about 10k early, but recovered and put pressure on Orangemarmalade. Warchief was getting low again but was able to get out of it. Loaded Black got to restealth and was able to open again on Warchief and focused him down. Third game to Loaded Black, 2-1 Arena Pwnage.
Game 4 - Nagrand Arena, rogue opened on Warchief, locked him down which brought up barkskin but they kept the pressure on and a cloak + vanish got him to open back up on Warchief killing him once again. Match tied 2-2.
Game 5 - Nagrand Arena, Pressure was kept on Warchief and kept aggressive on there, Novos sapped in the beginning and Loaded Black wins the match 3-2 after being down 2-0.
Team EG (Warlock/Mage/Shaman) vs. Skill Capped West (Mage/Warlock/Druid)
Game 1 - Ruins of Lorderon, EG targeting Druid first, early lust to try to focus down the druid, swapper to the mage, got to about 50% was picked back up though. Pushed druid into the start area, feared and got stuck behind some of statues. Mage was gibbed and pulled away from the druid as the druid was stuck. Match got replayed.
Game 1 (rematch) - Nagrand Arena, Targeting pets first, healers able to keep them up. Pressure from EG on the Mage, switching to the Druid after getting the mage to about 75%, lots of crowd control right, team EG hits bloodlust and puts pressure on but not able to close it out, switch to the mage, gets down to about 20% life and ice blocks to not get gibbed. Lots of back and forth in the match, SCW mage get low on mana but gets a innervate. SCW’s mage gets taken out, looks like he couldn’t iceblock. Team EG goes up 1-0.
Game 2 - Nagrand Arena, Bloodlust comes up, gets on SCW’s druid, and swaps to their mage who ice blocks out of it. SCW’s Mage was able to get a polymorph on EG’s Shaman on the corner of a pillar and it looked like there may have been a bit of lag that helped him out there. Really long game, 10+ minutes so far, lots of waiting it seems like for mana/cooldowns. Nice Deathcoil on SCW’s druid, forced a barkskin and they are keeping the pressure on and got him near 5k health, but was able to get back up. SCW’s mage almost died, put up mana shield and got a big heal out of it though. Druid got around 2k HP again, swiftmend and a healthstone brought himself back up. Bloodlust came up again for EG and they were able to apply pressure on the druid and win the match, EG up 2-0.
Game 3 - Nagrand Arena, EG opened on SCW’s warlock, swapped to the mage, was able to blink back to be saved. Good crowd control by EG and was able to get SCW’s druid again, another long game, but EG doing almost twice the damage output in the end of the match, winning the series 3-0.
Nerd Stompers vs. Fnatic
Game 1 - Blade’s Edge Arena, open on Hoodrych (Warrior) with strong pressure from Woundman (Rogue). And...we have a disconnect.
Game 1 (rematch) - Nagrand Arena, Bloodlust comes out, woundman was taking a lot of damage, Nerd Stompers druid gets gibbed though, Yog disconnected again? So we have a 2v2 situation. Hoodrych gets taken down, Woundman gets healed back up. Fnatic gets the win even with the disconnect, and are up 1-0.
Game 2 - Nagrand Arena, Woundman sapped, got a trinket proc off of it, pressure is on Woundman, but gets healed up. Another disconnect though.
Game 2 (rematch) - Blade’s Edge Arena, open again on Hoodrych, gets killed after getting really clutch heals, it wasn’t able to be kept up though and Fnatic gets another win and is up 2-0.
Game 3 - Blade’s Edge Arena, Nerd Stomper applied solid pressure under the bridge and was able to trap Woundman away from his healer and eventually burst him down and kept themselves away from CC. Nerd Stomper won and the match is 2-1.
Game 4 - Nagrand Arena. Put pressure on Woundman, taking him down and Fnatic takes the set 3-1.
