Best of one and very even skill among the participants made way for three tiebreakers in the first day of World Cyber Games.
ALTERNATE|SaSe & MYM]Grubby advance to playoffs
The lustrous Group A with Xuwen "Infi" Wang, Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen, Kim "SaSe" Hammar (picture) and Marc "yAwS" Förster in the front seat was as tough to play out as it was predicting it. The group was thought out to be a race between the three aforementioned, but the German Human player shocked many when he defeated SaSe and Infi in the group.
Despite his 15 minutes of fame, yAwS was unable to go all the way through, after losing to both Grubby and SaSe in the tie-breaker between the three. The brilliant Human player Infi was miles away the "WEG Masters-Infi", and only won games against amateurs DemonBladext, Serry and odiN.
GG.ToD & Happy advance to playoffsGroup B ended in similar fashion, as the Europeans Yoan "ToD" Merlo, Bychkov "Ghost" Aleksey, Dmitriy "Happy" Kostin (picture) ended on 15 points each. Gravitas Gaming's top player ToD showed great shape when five-zeroing his way through the group stage, but was halted by Ukrainian Orc player Ghost in the last round. A three-way tie popped up, as Happy defeated Ghost early on but lost to ToD. While in the tiebreaker, ToD continued to impress, winning both games on Terenas Stand (Ghost) and Secret Valley (Happy). Russian youngster but yet veteran Happy claimed the last spot defeating Ghost in the deciding tiebreaker game.
ESM|Kim & S.o.ko.L advance to playoffs
Group D held no professional WarCraft 3 player, but Italian WCG veteran Geno was among the participants. The Chinese Taipei player Chun Jih "Kim" Chen lost only to Ale "alexito" Grau, and could claim the top spot of the group. The last spot had to be determined through another tiebreaker, where home field player Heinrich "S.o.K.o.L" Rennert advanced on the expense of Croatian Viktor "p1nke" Gregurek and Pakistanian player Bilal "Stud" Rasheed.
WE.Pepsi.TeD & GG.XyLigan advance to playoffs
Zhuo "TeD" Zeng and Mihail "XyLigan" Ryabkov had little trouble in the straightforward Group C. Chinese Undead TeD came back in his Make Games Colorful style after prior disappointing WEG Masters and NiceGameTV group stage performances. TeD all-killed his way to the first place, and the runner-up XyLigan won against all but TeD.
The tournament continues tomorrow at 12:00, where paramount players Moon, WhO, Like and HoT enter the World Cyber Games. Continue to be glued on to GosuGamers to not miss a thing from Cologne.
