Xuwen "Infi" Wang overcame an undefeated Moon in the semi finals of WEG Masters after an assuring 2-0 victory for the Chinaman.
Infi came from a group stage series where he took scalps as ToD and TeD but had to face laydown against Lyn. Meeting his first Night Elf in the tournament today, Infi was predicted to lose. GosuBet odds as well as his matchup statistics opened for a tough challenge ahead. Moon, who sailed through his group stage with three straight wins, over Human player Sky for example, was looking strong.
The young Human player was able to dodge Moon's level 6 Demon Hunter and Pandaren Brewmaster duo and instead destroyed Moon's base. Moon effortlessly went for Infi's expansion in the beginning with a huntress push, but only to lose his own expansion by Infi's hand.
The second game on Echo Isles was a slower story. Both players powered up and went expanding and creeping. Not until a big clash between the two we got to see some Night Elf on Human action. Despite Moon's strong level 6 Dark Ranger, the "fifth race" got his Pandaren Brewmaster shot down twice, thus losing the battle and consequently the match.
Qualified for the grand final against Lyn, Infi commented that he "had a bit of disadvantage at the start of each game". He also felt that Moon seemed a bit absent-minded. "He was creep-jacked by me in the first game and he did not play his best," said Infi.
Moon, who now is set to play Grubby in the bronze match, said "although I prepared a lot for this match, Infi played very well and I have no qualms about my loss," after the games.
Bronze match will be played tomorrow at 06:00. Grand finals are set to make way right after.
