Sky is one of the favorites for the championship title in the Electronic Sports World Cup. But 2008 has been a rough year for the Chinese superhuman. The only individual title he can place in the 2008 column is the second season's Neo Star League. For tonight's matches, Sky hopes to find his old shape from his reign in 2006.- Right now, I’m trying to dig up my form from WCG 2006 to compete at this year’s ESWC. I haven’t won an international championship title in a long time, so I am really hungry for this one, writes Sky in his blog.
His history in ESWC includes on third and one fourth place. Back in 2005, he lost to Deadman in the semi final, and lost to ReiGn in the bronze match.
- During that year, I really gave my best shot in every single match, and I had a significant amount of luck as well. However, I was particularly afraid of being drawn into the same groups with the Korean Undeads, tells Sky. He also mentions that he felt he let his guard down against Deadman.
2006 ended somewhat better. Originally not supposed to go, but replacing Sai in the last minute, Sky managed to get a bronze medal. His semi final opponent that year was Lucifer, a player he had rather skipped to play.
- It’s not that I was afraid of him, but more of me not wanting to compete against him for the top 4 positions. I played three strenuous games against him, but eventually lost on the last map – Turtle Rock. In that year, I finished third, writes Sky in his blog.
In 2007 Sky did not participate. And he was very close in not making it this year as well. But thanks to a second place in the ESWC Masters, he was given another chance to get an international title in 2008.
Sky should be able to advance from his group stage, where ReiGn is the only player who should give him a hard time. RotterdaM is another known name in Group 7, and has been seen taking down players before, but has not been showing the consistent skill needed to take down neither Sky nor ReiGn.
