Its official, Wicked eSports disbands its Warcraft 3 team. Wicked's management officially stated the following reasons for disbanding the team in their English press release:
"The reasons are a lack of prospects with this team and different opinions about the future of the established brand wicked. Last but not least, we had different opinions about the new contracts."
Furthermore, the press release cited a desire by the Wicked CEO to focus on the European market:
"While the whole eSports orientates oneself more and more to the asian market, wicked eSports will trust boosted on the european market."
Finally, the press release stated that Wicked would return to the gaming scene following its reorganization:
After a short time of reorganization we will be back with a new freshness in some days. Wicked eSport will present several teams out of different fields of the electronic sport.
At this point, the
full effects of Wicked eSports's untimely departure are unclear. Wicked was slated to play in:
(1) the WC3L finals v. Mouse Sports;
(2) NGL-ONE (Wicked was ranked 3rd) and;
(3) The WPL playoffs as a #1 seed.
