Third season of AWL about to launch

The qualification stage of Afreeca WarCraft League's third season is just around the corner as it starts on Friday. The league is purely Korean and will feature some of the very best players in the world.

Although the second season of the Afreeca WarCraft League is not yet finished, the qualifications for the next season is already about to start. The losers from yesterday's season 2 quarterfinals will each be put in a qualification group. As you can see from the results below, the second season has now come down to four extremely capable players and it should be very interesting to see how it all ends.

As for the qualifiers, the groups have now been settled and there's a ridiculous amount of top notch players participating. Even the likes of FoV, Moon and the first season's champion Soccer will have to be on their toes if they wish to survive this Korean onslaught. It will all start tomorrow and the two top players from each group will advance to the main tournament.

A most interesting side note is that the AWL will be introducing two new maps to their pool this season. One of them is Secret Valley, which is quite familiar from other leagues and events. The other one is a modified version of Tirisfal Glades, known mainly from the Battle.net ladder. In the AWL version of this map, the forest in the middle has been replaced by a solid wall and the red creep camps at the fountains drop slight less powerful items than in the original version.
