After a hectic group stage, the CEG tournament in Shaoxing advances to the knockout phase. The two top players from each of the eight groups proceeded to the playoffs that starts tomorrow.
Chinese talents on the march
The first day of the CEG stop in Shaoxing has been laid to waste and so far the results have been quite expected. However, there is one big exception to this since the rather unknown Night Elf player GGTry showed no mercy what so ever in Group B by beating the likes of Check and Wulin to secure the top placement. As the tournament now moves into the playoff stage, GGTry will now go up against the World Elite player TeD, who on paper is hugely favoured to take this match.
Another talent who made it to the playoffs was the Night Elf ForDream, who's previously stated he's got great ambitions to go professional. He ended second in his group after only losing to FoV, against whom he put up some decent resistance and showed that he soon can be reckoned with even against players who posses such striking skill as the Korean Undead.
Top players advancing easily
In Group E Sky managed to defeat his Korean nemesis Moon on Twisted Meadows and, after securing the first place in his group, could later merely forfeit his last game against 87. Although losing to Sky, Moon did, however, make it to the playoffs pretty easily in the end. With the best-of-one system in use, some of the groups were much closer which made tie-breakers necessary for three of them. Even though a couple of very talented players are now already knocked out, like Lyc, Infi and Like, there's no doubt about that the playoffs are going to be very exciting.

Moon won the CEG stop in Xi'an last year. Can he do it again in Shaoxing?
As you can see from the brackets below, things will get very interesting in the first round of the playoff. For example, Moon will face his teammate Shy in a Night Elf mirror match, a match-up that has been Moon's little Achilles heel for a long time. Two other teammates, Sai and xiaOt, will also duke it out in the first round while the Orc master Lyn will face one of the strongest Orc killers out there - Check. The action will start around 03:00 CET and go on until the 3rd place decider at 15:00. The Grand Final isn't due until Sunday morning.
