The much anticipated 1.22 patch has, according to Blizzard's Karune, been under development for some time now. Although the later patches have mainly contained minor tweaks and fixes, it is said that this one will have a larger impact on the game's balance. It has now been announced that the patch is delayed and will not be released until next year.
As stated earlier this year, Blizzard is working on an upcoming patch for their incredibly popular RTS game WarCraft III - The Frozen Throne. Previous patches have mainly contained minor fixes and balance tweaks, but this one is said to be different. Since it's been developed for quite a long time now, there will most likely be some more noticeable balance changes to the game.
Blizzard's RTS Community Manager, Kevin "Karune" Yu, has released a statement on the Battle.net forums regarding the upcoming 1.22 patch. Apparently, it has been delayed but will be considered a top priority from next month on.
In my opinion, the Warcraft III community has been extremely patient in waiting for the new patch, and of course this patience is much appreciated. Although, the patch does not seem like it will be out by the end of the year, I will be making sure this Warcraft III patch will be my first priority for 2008, above all other projects including StarCraft II. I too, am very disappointed that the patch will not be out this year.
As another update, the melee map contest winners will be announced in late January.
Expect another update for the patch in the first week of January.
As Blizzard releases more information, GosuGamers will keep you up to date on any further progress.
