EM: Grubby faces his ex-teammate ToD

Not only valuable points in the Extreme Masters Group Stage are at stake when Grubby faces his former teammate ToD this evening. Without a doubt, alot of prestige is in the pot as ToD recently left 4Kings in quite a tough spot.

For three years Grubby and ToD played together in the now somewhat diminished team 4Kings. During that period, they were considered as the main pillars of the team and were, together, the dominant force behind 4Kings' splendid performances in the WC3L. Just recently, the era of Grubby and ToD's dominance in 4K was ended when ToD surprisngly left the team for MouseSports, leaving Grubby as the last player with superstar status in 4K.

The former 4Kings superduo face eachother in the Extreme Masters tonight.
Tonight, they face eachother in the Extreme Masters in what should be a very close encounter. Surely, more than just important points are at stake in tonight's superclash. At Dreamhack last Saturday, Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen managed to win two of his group stage matches against the talented Swedes DowaQ and LiiLD.C and already looks to be well on his way to the playoffs. He has shown some excellent performances lately and has more or less carried his team in the NGL-One.

Things has been a little quiter regarding Yoan "ToD" Merlo since his departure from 4Kings. There haven't been any tournaments or competitions going on for his part so he might have had time to come up with some new strategic tweaks and tricks. As mentioned, he recently joined MouseSports, which seems to be a very sensible choice by ToD, who's currently living the progamer dream in China. It is common knowledge that mouz has taken a great interest in the Chinese scene.

Both players have expressed their concern about being put in the same group in their pre -match statements at the ESL website. Since both Grubby and ToD are highly rated players and only the top player from each group immediately advances to the playoffs, the winner of tonight's game will likely be the one who claims the top position. The players placing second and third will, however, be granted a second chance in the Relegation Round. The game starts tonight at 19:00 CET and hopefully it will be streamed on Waaagh!TV and/or GG-TV.
