During the float of WCG news the ESL announced that the Extreme Masters would take place once again. There will be some differences though, for example the prize purse was increased from $125,000 to $160,000 and now to $285,000. Next to this, the Extreme Masters won't focus on the European marked only, the so called Extreme Masters Global Challenge is to be held in Los Angeles, United States, with a total pize money of $65,000.

At the Global Challenge overall, the two best non-European CS teams and WarCraft 3 players qualify directly for the Extreme Masters Season II Finals. With a prize of $12,000 for the first ranked WC3 player and a total of $20,000 in WarCraft 3, the Global Challenge promises to unite a lot of top players from all around the world.

The spots for the second season of the Extreme Masters will be given to the top teams and players of the national Pro Series winners. If your country doesn't have got a Pro Series yet, you will be able to qualify at National Qualifiers that start in October 8th.

Last year, the Extreme Masters organized offline events through out Europe; namely: Sweden, Germany, Russia and France; so this year some offline events will take place aswell, next to the one in Los Angeles. The dates and locations are not official yet.

The first season was won by PGS-Gaming in CounterStrike and ToD in WarCraft 3. It has been pretty exciting - as you can imagine seeing the picture of the grand final event - and so will be the second season!
