WCG07: Playday one, Final Results.

[s]event_498[/s]

As the first day wraps up, so does our playday one coverage, but not before giving you a good recap in case you missed it.

Playday one is almost over by now and with it, we now know the first players that will keep on dreaming about that golden medal and of course, the cash.

Group A went as expected with both XyLigan and Hot going onto the next stage, the SK player had to settle with the second place after tasting defeat at the hands of the fnatic Human. Kowi and Longwalk had to share mid table with Kowi getting a slightly better performance. Last placed were the european players Frozgard and Sonic respectively.

ERRATA: As for the Longwalk vs Hot there is a mistake. In the table Hot should appear with only one match lost.

Group B's first place belongs to human superstar, Yoan "ToD" meaning that "fifth race" Moon placed second, a surprise to many since ToD declared he hasn't been playing much, and Moon being one the most dominating players this year. A good performance by the hungarian player DNA earned him the third place, only losing to the superstars of the group. In the other hand, biggest letdown was polish undead player, TeRRoR who had been showing recently many good performances in the WC3L, however, he failed to show his worth in Seattle.

Group C was a very easy group for the promising german talent Xlord who managed to get a 100% efectiveness, without much of an effort. Second place will have to be defined with a tie breaker between Hasuhasi and the two south-americans Mr. Tutu and DanGeR. DeViLMaZ, Tine and PC finished in three last spots in that respective order.

UPDATE: Hasuhasi is the second player qualified for the bracket.

Group D, the group of death, was clearly the most exciting of this playday. After some big upsets like the victory of Ciara over Soju and the crushing defeat that elf underdog Zeus proportionated orc superstar Lyn this group looked rather uncertain. After losing to both Soju and Zeus, Lyn was out and his chances of going to the next stage were taken by Zeus who was the new contender for the oh so precious spot. With Sky having a superb performance and not giving a single map until the last round; he seemed to be the top contender of the bunch. But for Zeus it all depended on one match, the mirror vs Soju. However with Soju taking the match, Zeus's hopes were reduced to ashes after Soju won vs Sky, taking away Sky's top of the bunch spot. Lyn finished in a dissapointing fourth place, Ciara in fifth, Lose placed sixth, and the two underdogs in the last two places. SoJu, who we predicted was in the "upsetters" group, has done it and will play one more day for the glory.
