ESWC hands out $19,000 for WarCraft

The ESWC prize purse has finally been made public. The winner of the WarCraft 3 tournament can grant him or herself lucky with $10,000!

ESWC will be held in Paris later this summer, and as all the qualifiers are being played throughout the galaxy, the prize money for the Grand Final has been made public. A total of $19,000 for WarCraft 3, where $10,000 will be handed out to the winner. Will Lucifer grab yet another hefty prize check this year, or will he be put down by some of the other contenders?

While in 2006 the top eight teams and players got prizes, this year only the top three will get a prize. This makes the prize purse of 2007 being lowered by more than the half of 2006, from $400,000 to $185,000. There has not been an official announcement for the reasons yet.

The Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) takes place in Paris from 5th to 8th of July. Overall 750 international players from 51 countries will participate in one of the biggest events this year. The main titles are CounterStrike 1.6 Men, WarCraft 3, Quake 4, Trackmania Nations, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and CounterStrike 1.6 Women.
