FuRy lost to LiiLD.C in the last qualifier, but this time he managed to secure a spot in the Swedish finals at DreamHack. This was something he had expected, although he says it was not so easy.
- We have many good players in Sweden, he says.
Congratulations for a spot in the final qualifiers at DreamHack. Did you expect to take a spot?
- Yes, I expected to take one of the eight spots :)
You seemed to pass through today's tournament with ease. Tell me, who was your toughest opponent?
- Thorzain, I lost one map to him, and I wouldn't say I passed with ease. It was quite hard, we have many good players in Sweden.
Tell me a bit about the games versus Thorzain!
- Well, first map was Echo Isles, basic human vs Undead game, many towers involved, so it ended up in a 31 minute game. He was forced to attack my expansion in the end since i had 3000 gold left, and he was all out of gold. Destroyers and Fiends versus Gyros and Knights.
Second game was Secret Valley, I made the big mistake of thinking I could outdestro his fast tier 3, mass gyro. Even with panda 3, I lost horribly in the air fights, thus losing all advantage, and he could easily pick off my heroes with Mountain King, Paladin and a few knights.
Third game was Turtle rock, close position. He tried to tower me with mass militia and mass footmen. But I have had a lot of practice versus strategies like this. So I knew exactly how to play, and won quite easily.
In the lower side of the brackets, three players are left - KnOfF, Tharkas and Quethree. Who do you think you will eventually go up against?
-Hard question, as I know Tharkas is good versus Orc, But KnOfF has also improved a lot lately. We will just have to see what happens in that game :)
Do you keep track of the other ESWC qualifiers around the world? Any result that has surprised you? Sky versus ForDream perhaps?
- I was surprised but there is so so so so so many great players in China that are unknown to the world :)
You nearly made it in the first qualifier, but lost to LiiLD.C. How do you think you will do in the Swedish finals at DreamHack?
- Ill just do what i did every year so far, prepare as much as humanly possible, and just hope for the best. And hope it ends up like the last two years.
