While the announcement of Starcraft 2 was being made, 8 players were preparing to fight for another shiny trophy, the honor of being Blizzard's WWI winner and of course, $10,000.
In this tournament we had wc3's la créme de la créme fighting for a total moneyprize of $15,000. The tournament took place this same weekend in the same place: Seoul, Korea.
Format was knockout with bo3 series, so this meant for the players: 'Kill or be killed' tournament and with ten grand on the line, it was for real. The mappool came a bit of as a surprise since Lost temple (TFT version) was the one included instead of the RoC version. But that was only a minor shock and it didnt have any influence regarding the outcome of the tournament
But there could be only one winner, and it was
