Lag - what players hate most and what makes playing on a professional level hardly possible. GG-Client seemed to be the solution of lag problems but the recent WC3L games between 4Kings and wNv. have shown once again thats it not stable and reliable enough - but there is a new hope: Waaagh! Arena.
Lag makes playing on a professional level almost impossible, you can hardly micro your units when you have a delay of one second or more in your game and every action you take seems to be never happening. A program called GG-Client helped players, the lag got reduced to almost zero but it seemed to be not stable enough. The games between 4Kings and wNv. from recent WC3L playday have been delayed several hours, both players and visitors had to wait long time.
Waaagh! Arena - most valueable program for WC3?
Waaagh! Arena is actually not even a program you have to download, it is Java based and it will be installed and started on any random server and controlled via web interface. Admins recieve an URL, give it to the players who start WC3, join a LAN game and start the game. Another URL will be given to observers who will join the game as observers.

It has been successfully tested in NGL-ONE, players from Australia and Asia were able to play eachother without any lag, the Java based program got installed on a server in Germany. Additionally Waaagh! Arena does not need any updates or installation files, it does not hurt any of Blizzard's policies and you are able to use it where you are currently playing (Internet cafe, computer of a friend) as you connect via any browser of your choice.
Waaagh! Arena has several nice features added, a game can only be started once the players typed "/ready", broken games because the streamer disconnected will not happen anymore.
Khaldor states that Waaagh! Arena is very promising and can be the future of lagfree playing over the Internet. GosuGamers will keep you updated.
