ESWC organisation made yesterday a few shakeouts in the list of the participating players in the event, raising the number of the invitees and crossing out the names of those who didn't confirm their attendance.
Reigning champion Jang 'WhO' DuSeop as well as Weiliang 'Fly100%' Lu and Yoan 'ToD' Merlo will not take part in this year's ESWC. This is what the French organisation conveyed on its official website through the updated attendees list.
If the absence of the French retired star was rather expected, no one could forecast the non-attendance of the two Asian talents.
Adding insult to injury, the Chinese World Elite triplet made by Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li, Zhuo 'TED' Zeng and Xuwen 'InFi' Wang will sit out the event. While the first two declined playing in the national qualifiers, the latter couldn't even get over the groupstage, sparking a real blow to the fans.
The three Chinese who placed on the podium are respectively Jiankai 'Yumiko' Yu, Lin 'Wulin' Wu and Yuzong 'Blast' Wang.
With the number of the invitees raised from seven to ten, ESWC tries to make up for the long list of absentees and preserve the credibility of what is referred to as one of the most prestigious events in the eSports history.
With Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuisen, Thomas 'ThomasG' Glinski, Daniel 'XlorD' Spenst and Marcus Sebastian 'ThorZaIN' Eklöf among others, filling the gaps, the show will hopefully rise to the fans' expectations.
