Failed Towerrush = GG
The Brazilian Nightelf Pato versus the German Orc Eric was scheduled as the first match tonight. Early in the game it was Pato who showed to not be satisfied to leave the match without points. He killed the Blade master from the German PGS player, followed shortly afterwards by taking down Eric’s Tauren with a well placed surround. Eric wasn’t able to overcome this early game disadvantage and the mass talons from Pato sealed the deal, taking the first map.
In the second map, it was Eric who immediately went for the expansion at the upper side of the map. However the Brazilian looked through this strategy and went right after the blade master from Eric to wreck the expansion. Pato made dryads while Eric kept going with the grunts, accompanied by a lonely demolisher. Then rebuilt his expansion and this time it was a success. When Pato again tried to demolish the Orc’s expansion it was Eric who choose to attack instead of defend. Eric harassed Pato’s base and forced his opponent to call GG.
In game 3 it was the failed tower rush attempt from Eric that put the orc player in an unrecoverable position. He tried to restore his errors by killing the expansion from his opponent three times in a row but when the Shadow Hunter and the Blade Master from the Orc were killed, it was Pato who fulfilled his mission, taking the first point for mTw.

Dryads > hippogryphs
The second match of the evening was NightWOlf versus LiiLD.C. In the first map in this Nightelf mirror on Terenas Stand, both sides started exactly the same. Both players selected a Naga Sea Wich to fight side by side with their Demon Hunters. LiiLD.C was able to take down the Ancient of Wonders from NightWOlf and started off well in the game. However, the Belarusian made a strong decision in choosing Bears and Dryads while the Swede created an army of talons and Hippogryphs. In a face to face fight, it was the Dryads who took out all the Hippos and the former Four Kings player called it a GG.
The second map started with close spotsoOn Turtle Rock. Here, it was LiiLD.C who started right away taking advantage of the close spots and went straight for NightWOlf’s base. Both players selected once again the Naga Sea Witch and chased each other between the bases. Than it was LiiLD.C who took the upper hand after taking down NightWOlf’s Demon Hunter, despite the call from the Belarusian for lag. Then the Swede used his heroes and bears to take down the Ancient of War from the mTw player. Meaning the game was over in favor of PGS, tying the map score 1:1.
In the third and deciding match, it was the second hero that settled the matter. While NightWOlf picked the commonly used Naga, LiiLD.C preferred the Keeper of the Grove. Both players chose Bears and after 17 minutes it was NightWOlf coming out on top in a face to face bear fight.
Veterans in action
In the third solo match, veteran players Zeus and Hanf met each other in another elf mirror, starting on Gnoll Wood. Despite Hanf’s first choice to select the Demon Hunter he changed his mind and went for the priestess of the moon, just like Zeus had done so. In the early game, both players played huntress' and later in the game; both sides used the Pandaren Brewmaster as their second hero. Hanf chose to spread out his army with Glaives, bears and dryads while the Croatian focused more on the Glaives and bears. This gave Zeus the possibility, with 61 pop while hanf was at 50, to demolish several moonwells from the german. Zeus took a big lead after killing hanf’s priestess of the moon and demolished the entire base of the mTw player. When hanf had only his Panda hero and one dryad left, it became a cat and mouse game with Zeus following the panda while hanf tried to avoid fighting. Despite the desperate effort from the German player to rebuild his base at the upper side of the map, Zeus finally took the map.
As third map, the 19-year-old mTw player from St.Ingbert, Germany picked Terenas Stand. Both selected the Demon Hunter and went straight for the expansion. In the beginning, hanf turned the game to his advantage a little bit with the death of Zeus' Naga just before the Croatian was able to TP out. Then the game got paused for a short period as the PGS player said he was suffering some lag issues. After checking all the pc’s in his house for possible downloading the game moved on. Hanf cleverly used the Zeppelin to save his hero with low health points from being killed. However, it was Zeus who already had his population on 50 while hanf was still left on 32 pop and used this advantage to attack hanf’s base. After first taking down several moonwells, Zeus created three Ancient of Wars to power up his army and the game was over. Zeus took the first point of the evening for his team: PGS Gaming.
FuRy vs Protois in Undead Mirror
It ain't over until the fat lady sings!
In the last solo match FuRy took on Protois. The German player was positive in the news lately when he defeated ReMinD and ReiGn in the NGL Match versus SK. In the first map of this Undead mirror it was Fury with fiends while Protois stayed with ghouls and minions. Besides their Death Knights, Protois went for the Dreadlord and FuRy choose the usual Lich and the Crypt Lord as third hero. The Swede lead the entire game with a population of 61 while the German had a mere 35 pop. He started the attack early in the game and took down in order; the Crypt , Tomb of Relics, Altar or Darkness and even the Death Knight of Protois. He had to pay the price when he attacked the base of the mTw player and walked right into the nerubian towers of Protois, losing multiple units. Then after about 30 minutes, it left both sides looking for expansions. Protois succeeded creating an expo in the middle lower spot. However FuRy noticed the second base of his opponent and went right after it to take it down. After destroying it the first time Protois re-built his base to win the game after the Lich went down. A surprising outcome after the domination of FuRy during the entire match.
Protois mainly focused on the Crypt Fiends during the third map, throughout the entire match he had a total of 31 fiends. FuRy had a wider selection of units within the entire game; 15 Crypt Fiends, 3 Obsidian Statues and one Abomination. The german was able to use his hero and larger unit advantage to take the match versus the PGS player in only 2 maps.
Dryads solve
The final match of the evening was the 2on2 match with hanf and Protois versus Eric and LiilD^C. In the first game it were especially the dryads from LiilD^C and the fiends from Protois that dominated the game. One of the highlights of this game was the 1hp Town Portal by Eric, which allowed him to save his blade master. The demon hunter, blade master and dryads from LiilD^C cleverly played out the match and took the first map.
In game two, the mTw duo played an interesting strategy, where Hanf transferred gold to Protois to make fiends early in the game while hanf himself attacked the base of LiilD^C and killed a lot of wisps. The Swede again choose for a massive amount of dryads and Protois bought a Pit Lord at the Tavern as a second hero. In a major face to face battle between the four players, three heroes got killed in a row. It started with the Death Knight, followed with the Demon Hunter and the Pit Lord. Then mTw took out most of the dryads and PGS was defeated, tying the score 1:1.
In the third game LiilD^C used an ancient of war to harass hanf’s base right at the beginning. It was mTw who showed the initiative and attacked LiilD^C' base and built two ancient protectors. However PGS showed to possess a strong counter attack and turned down both protectors. When the PGS were able to take down the hero’s of mTw the game was over. Finalizing the total score into 3:2 for mTw.
A common side in both 2on2 matches; Dryads versus Dryads & Fiends
