Eric is like the Eric Cartman of the Warcraft 3 scene. Maybe except from the size of his belly, his mouth causes some trouble every now and then. He is known for the little riots he had in his career but his team mainly describes him as a teamplayer. He is a guy who loves to hang out with friends and has his girlfriend on the first place. His favorite music styles is various and he likes to play sports, with as favorite sport soccer.
Eric's Career
Eric’s first big team was SK Gaming 06 back in October 2005. In this German SK Talent team he stayed until the end of 2006’s winter. Not even a week later he signed with Qpool. After being with team DKH for some time, Eric joined Praetoriani in September 2006 as part of a German team with as intention to be more known for the German gaming market.
Marten got withdrawn from the team at the end of February 2007 due the multiple internal conflicts and inactivity. After this he joined up with Pod.hama for which he competed in the ESL Premier League and the Warcraft 3 WCIP Qualifier. In May 2007 Eric got recruited by the Polish based team PGS.PokerStrategy, formed with mainly players from his old team Praetoriani, as reinforcement for the WC3L XII qualifier.
Back in September last year, Eric got accused for bribing his opponent kelthulas to lose the game so he would qualify directly for the German ESL Pro Series. Marten however always claimed his innocence and still oppresses this opinion. He has some regrets though for the statements he made after the accusation, "
didn’t buy that win so there is nothing to regret in that point. But besides that I regret some statements in that case."
After board boarding with ieS Virtual Gaming the German orc announced a month ago his return to his former team mates of PGS.

The Interview
What motivates you to put forth your best effort?
Right now I am very successful and of course the competition and the money keeps up my motivation.
What do you think are the current strengths and weaknesses of the PGS Lineup?
I would say we have a lot of players who are able to compete on a very high level. Currently we have 5 elfs in the team and since elf is the best race its definitely a strength. Our weakness is the lack of German players. Because in the ESL Premiere League its forbidden to use more than 2 non-German players.
I asked this question to other players before but let’s see what is your answer, If gaming would be a pie which flavor you think it would be?
The flavor of passion or love.
You are placed in Group H of the AWL Europe. Who would you like to avoid in the group and who are you looking forward to play against?
Hmm, I would have liked to avoid team members but since Dc [Liild^C] is already in my group I have to accept it. Im not afraid of anyone since there is nothing to lose. I look forward to all my games in this qualify.
As you probably heard, Blizzard is bringing out a new patch. What are your expectations?
Weak elf and human. Well to be honest I have no clue since I cant anticipate the consequences of some minor or bigger variances.
You currently have a 4-4 record in solo and a 5-3 record in 2on2. Those are quite decent numbers. How would describe your success? Is your playing style, the unique strats you use, the high amount of practice or is it something else?
So far I won 2 out of 3 solo games and 2 out of 3 2on2 games. Im happy with those results. Well the point is not that I play more or something. I just try to play smarter than my enemy. I always try to capitailase a small advantage and turn into a huge advantage which I will not give away anymore. In the past I lost games I already had the upper hand and made stupid or hasted decisions. I also found a lot of good players to practice with.
“I hope we can avoid the need to requalify.”
- Eric's expectations for the WC3L
If you see the wc3l players stats the entire top 3 ( Southsea, Remind, Soju) consist of Nightelf Players, do you think Nightelf is the strongest race?
Yes I think so.
You and Lloth had some trouble with each other in the past, How is your current band with Team Manager Jaco?
I hate that son of a ....., well no. Yes we had some troubles but we also had good times. Our relation is very good right now and well theres nothing to add.
Do you consider yourself the best orc in Germany?
To be honest, yes I don't see any other German orc on my level right now. But it can change from time to time.

How much do you train a day or per week? And do you prefer ladder or cgs’s with other professional players?
My battle.net ping is 200 so I do not play ladder at all. But thats not a problem I got my players to practice with and its better than ladder anyway. I really cant give you a precise answer on that question. If I play a cup I play 5 hours that day. I guess its round about 1-2 hours every day (clanwargames not included). Sometimes its more sometimes Im not playing at all mostly when I spend my weekend or free days with my lovely girlfriend.
How do you see your future in gaming? Any idea’s of switching to Starcraft 2?
Right now Im working in a kindergarden instead of going to army. Im forced to do some social work. In that period Im not that busy so I will try to earn as much money as possible and be a progamer besides my work.
Eric and girlfriend Linda Which tournament is next on your planning?
Well the AWL tournament will start soon besides that Im already qualified for the national final ESWC Germany. I will also try to secure a spot for the German WCG qualifier.
You like to swich races, like you did in the Premier League match versus knoff, why are you switching?
Yes I like to switch races but I wont do it in a serious game anymore. I learned that lesson now. Good that I won that match anyway :).
It was looking so well for you with a 2 – 0 advantage in the finals of last week’s excello cup. What went wrong making it 2-3?
Well, I was tired had headache and my eyes did hurt. I gave the third map away after dominating satiini in the early and middle game. I just made the wrong decision not massing wyverns but batriders. For some reason I made the worst games of my life for some reasons... Next time I will finish 3-0, I promise.
I would like to thank Eric for the cooperation to make this interview. In some last words he accompanies me in hoping that you liked the interview. "Thanx for the interview and I hope u enjoyed reading my little life story."
