VCT Masters SEA - X10 Esports wins the first VCT Masters for South East Asia

In a thrilling final, the Thai-team almost lost their grip on the trophy

At the grand finals for VCT Masters 1 SEA, team X10 Esports hailing from Thailand won against the Singapore-based team Team SMG in a 3:2 win in a thrilling, nail biting finals match. This win nets X10 Esports the required points towards their goal for the Championship at the end of the year.

The match was a best of five matchup, with each side choosing maps that were advantageous to them. The maps in play, in order, wereIcebox, Bind, Split, Ascent and Haven. Team SMG dominated the first half of the competition, which lasted over 2 hours, winning both Icebox and Split. But X10 Esports clawed back from behind to capture the win in a thrilling fashion.

When asked, the team said that their adaptability resilience was what made them win the tournament.

The match with SMG was the toughest in the tournament for us. Especially in round three, plans set in motion did not go through and destroyed dues to the strategy that was used. We persevered and adapted to the game in the end. – X10 Esports

They also mentioned that

If the game were a best of three, we would have lost in the third game. But it is a best of five, so we played as if we are trying to win another best of three match to achieve the victory in the end.

With this win, X10 Esports secured $25,000 and 100 points to be calculated towards their chance of heading to the Championship at the end of the year. The first runner up, Team SMG, pocketed themselves $10,000 and 70 points.

The next stage of the competition, Challengers 2 will start sometime in late April/early May in multiple regions around the world for teams to get a chance to grab more points for themselves for the Champions in December.

Congratulations again to X10 Esports for winning the VCT Masters 1 SEA!
