ByteDance has acquired Moonton as they move forward into the gaming market

According to a report from Reuters, MLBB creators Moonton, have been acquired by the TikTok owning ByteDance.

In recent times, ByteDance, the company behind the extremely popular TikTok application, have bolstered their efforts to enter the gaming sphere and now have moved forward with this in a huge way by acquiring the Moonton company – creators of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang sensation, among other popular games.

The report itself (Reuters) states that, although under the ByteDance name now, Moonton will continue to function as an independent entity, while the two giants explore the massive global gaming market together. Although Nuverse, ByteDance’s gaming studio, was acquired back in 2017, it was only in the past month that we have seen a website featuring a string of mobile gaming titles featured on has come out.

In an official statement from a Nuverse spokesperson, they had the following to say on the merger:

Moonton allows us to further Nuverse's mission of providing fun and inspiring experience for every gamer. With their high level of quality and integrity, Moonton is the perfect partner to help expand our gaming strategy in international markets. Through cross-team collaboration and drawing on lessons and insights from its own rapid growth, Moonton provides the strategic support needed to accelerate Nuverse's global gaming offerings.
