Samsung acquires MVP LoL rosters, SC2 squad left behind

Inven.co.kr reported today that Samsung have acquired both League of Legends rosters of MVP and will be renaming their eSports division to "Samsung Galaxy Pro-Game Team". Neither the StarCraft 2, nor the Dota 2 roster of MVP will be flowing into the Samsung brand.

11 players and three coaches (including head coach Choi Yoon Sang) from the teams Ozone and Blue will join the ranks of Samsung. According to Samsung Galaxy representatives, this acquisition is a step towards their involvement and investment in "the second Golden Age" of eSports. With time, the company plans on expanding the rosters by signing well-known amateur players and develop the division further. Lastly, Samsung have decided to keep the name Ozone for the renown it has acquired and will not change it until the next season of OGN Winter.

With Samsung keeping their original team (previously known as Samsung KHAN), this means that the SC2 roster of MVP will not become part of the acquisition and the future of that roster remains to be seen now that it is no longer in the hands of its usual head manager. StarCraft 2 followers will remember MVP leaving eSF a few days back and declined participation in the GSTL in order to undergo changes. There is no mention in the source on who will lead the StarCraft 2 roster or what its future endeavours will be. Lastly, according to Inven, former MVP League of Legends coach Lim Hyun-Suk will be transfered as head coach for the MVP Dota 2 squad.
