Velocity remove MRN from the LCS

After a staggering long bo5 stretching to all five games with epic plays all around, Velocity end MRN convincingly in the last game of the set and secure their spot in the LCS.

It was an unusually superb night in the North American LCS with some wacky things and a wacky conclusion to follow that one would not normally suspect. The battles were neck and neck and Nientonsoh showcased perhaps the most ADC performance we've seen yet from the North American scene.

Nientonsoh having an unbelievably strong back.

The series would intermittently take crazy turns for the best of the spectacle sport, such as in the middle of it all hosting a Double AD Double Support team from Velocity, hosting an extremely successful jungle Ezreal that would shed terror into the hearts of MRN. It wouldn't be long before MRN would return the favor bringing Corki back into flavor and showcasing one of the most glorious examples of "Xpekeing" the league has seen in awhile.

Nientonsoh valiantly holding the fort down before a colossal comeback.

While all the inbetween games were dead even, a predictable finish would end the climatic clash between the two rivals, who have history with Velocity being knocked out of the Spring Season by MRN. The incredible story unravels now with The "Wu" brothers (NickWu and ClakeyD) knocked out of the LCS while the "Wylie brothers" (TheOddOne and FromMapleStreet) excel and bask in their current glory. 2 old LCS teams are already knocked out and tomorrow we discover if the remaining two forces share the same fate or hold their own, but first, a couple fun facts about the last matchup taken from a Velocity staff member:

  • Velocity (running under the name Dirtnap Gaming) lost to MRN in the Spring Season Qualifiers 3 months ago for the final spot in the LCS.
  • Curse's Saintvicious gave Velocity a 60% chance for beating MRN and going into the LCS despite the LoLEsports vote being 65% to MRN winning.
  • In an interview on Friday, Cris and Maplestreet told Phreak that the series would go 3-2 and they would win (Crazy, right?).
