Today Riot announced their incoming summoner name cleanup.
Riot are planning to release patch 3.7 this May and with it they will be performing cleanup of the summoner names. This does not mean account deleting. All inactive account names will be taken away and will be available to summoners to chose from. If someone's inactive account summoner name is taken he will have to chose a new name on the first login to the account.
As inactive will be counted all accounts under level five and not played in 2013. In addition accounts that are level ten or below and not active since 2012 will also be cleaned. To keep such account names their owners must log at least once before the 13th of May.
Last but not least Riot are planning to reduce the price of name change by 50% and it is going to be 650 RP down from 1300.
