The playoffs of GEST April will begin today at 08:00 CEST. Former champion, MiTH-Trust crashed and burned in Group D yesterday and it made way for the first Filipino team to reach the playoffs in GEST this year
With the groupstage games all played out, GEST April will be moving into its playoffs stage with only eight teams reamining.
The biggest surprise of the groupstage was the fall of MiTH-Trust, previous GEST undefeated champion in group D. Despite defeating MSIevoGT in the first round, the Thai team could not keep up with the momentum and lost to Joenet in the winner bracket and subsequently their second encounter with MSIevoGT.
Apart from that, Indonesian team vEyron.d2 also caused quite an upset in our "prediction" giveaway defeating known teams such as Cyberpink and TnC Gaming. Only 12 out of the 400 guesses made were correct.
The playoffs will begin at 08:00 CEST today with MUFC first going up against MSIevoGT while NeoES.Orange, recent TI3 invitee, will face Neolution.Int. The next playtime will be at 12:00 CEST.
The playoffs will span for two days with all the games played in a best-of-three format up till the grand final. The grand final will be played in best-of-five.
The top two placers of the tournament will receive an invite to GEST The Challenge next month where they will be facing two teams from China. Apart from that, the first placer will be walking away $1,000 richer while the second placer will settle for $500.
