The baying of the hounds
Copenhagen Wolves continued their excellent performance from the past couple of weeks and made a serious advancements towards the top four of LCS Europe.
A complete and utter stomp against Dragonborns got the Danish machine rolling. A 10/2/10 Twisted Fate by MVP of the match Bjergsen set a terrifying tempo, one that Wolves used to overcome the spaniards of Giants Gaming. This was also one of the night's most entertaining series, seeing the Wolves come back from a kill disadvantage thanks to Svenskeren's menacing Jarvan IV and, of course, Bjergsen, who had gone back to an old friend of his - Syndra.
Copenhagen and Fnatic was the playday's last and arguably most exciting match. The Danes had beaten Fnatic during the previous super week and had the conviction that they can do it again.
Fnatic snatched Kha'Zix first but while a powerful pick, this allowed Wolves to secure the global ulti duo of Twisted Fate and Shen, one they've proven they can operate flawlessly in the past.
The game walked the razor's edge from start to finish. Copenhagen Wolves took the kill lead but were losing towers more quickly and this put Fnatic ahead in the overall gold lead. Fnatic capitalized on this tower advantage and took down their first inhibitor tower by the 28th minute while Wolves were engaged with a Baron fight.
Although down in towers, Wolves still had the global map presence and perfectly synchronized instances of Destiny and Stand United won them a team fight after team fight. Step by step, CPW caught up in gold and tower, increased their lead even more and took down the mid inhibitor of Fnatic, putting them in dire straits.
A final team fight broke out in Fnatic's upper jungle at the 44th minute and the Wolves trampled through the resistance, trading four for one, giving TheTess a triple kill and seizing the final set of the day.
A much needed victory
After long weeks of lackluster performance and losing both of their matches yesterday, Evil Geniuses were in desperate need of a victory. To answer the call, Gambit came in to "help".
Knowing their top two place is secure, the Russian opted for an unorthodox team composition. Alex_Ich took a page out of sOAZ's book and chose to play Nunu top while Diamondprox locked in an Evelynn in the jungle. This in part allowed many of EG's favorite champions to survive the ban/pick phase and Thresh, Zed, Anivia and Varus were all secured for Snoopeh and his teammates.
What followed was a game of pretty much a one-sided beating. While Gambit held their ground periods of the early game, their performance progressively decayed and single players of theirs were caught up times and times again. Alex_Ich was never given the chance to fully channel his ult and the entire composition of Gambit fell apart.
Down to relegation
W10D2 was not just about triumphs, naturally, and Dragonborns and Giants are now sure to fall to the relegation matches. The Spaniards had a promising week nine, winning two of their three matches but lost all their week ten matches which shot them down to seventh place. A 1-3 score against aAa additionally confirms that even Giants win their next two matches while aAa lose theirs, the Spaniards will still remain outside the top six.
Meanwhile, the fall of Dragonborns comes as surprise to no one. Having won just five of the 26 matches they've played, Shushei's command is certain to go down to the relegation matches regardless of what happens tomorrow.
