Breaking news: G-1 Western qualifiers postponed indefinitely

The DDoS attacks has put G-1 in a tough spot as they decided to postpone their whole Western qualifiers indefinitely. All the Gosubets for G-1 Western qualifiers has been deleted as the organizers sort out the details.

Due to the persistent DDoS attacks, G-1 has finally decided to postpone their Western qualifiers indefinitely and will be making a new schedule for the whole qualifying phase.

The bracket and current standings for the tournament will most likely stay.

Statement by G-1 (translated by TL kupon3ss)

Over the past few days, the G-1 Western Qualifiers has been the subject of DDoS attacks from unknown sources, which has caused players to continuously disconnect and made it impossible to carry out the competition. In light of the current situation, 17173 has decided to postpone the Western Qualifiers while waiting for a technical solution, possibly from Valve.

After a successful run in the G-1 League Asian qualifiers, G-1 was in hope to extend and open up their annual tournament to the Western civilization. However, the tournament has been plagued by problems from day one due to DDoS attacks.

The first attack happened in the game between Evil Geniuses and Absolute Legends in which EG eventually received the default loss since they were losing to begin with.

Later in the day, NS and Airman also claimed that they were receiving horrible lag issues halfway through their game against Mousesports. VP eventually lost the game but gave the Germans graceful blessings as the mice were pushing into their base.

In hopes for the attackers to leave the tournament alone, G-1 started today with Kaipi versus Empire. 15 minutes into the second game, pieliedie disconnected from the game and soon after, bOne7 started complaining about lag. However, Kaipi marched on and defeated Empire from the huge lead they had prior to the disconnection.

The DDoS attack on Dignitas and QPad Red Pandas was the last straw for G-1 organizers.

"We will be creating a new schedule for phase 2 of G-1 League", said Carson, G-1 spokeperson.

All the Gosubet for the upcoming G-1 League games has been drawn and deleted until we received further notification. Stay tuned to Gosugamers as we update you as soon as information becomes available.
