ROOT's Protoss Kyung Chul "Sage" Woo became the hero of his team today as he pulled off a "last-minute" comeback to deal Acer their second loss for the tournament.
Just like their match against Liquid from April 1st, ROOT led in with Sage and the Korean Protoss promptly decimated the Zerg line-up of Acer. After Nerchio's and Paranoid's fall, Acer had to summon MMA in hopes that he will do better than against MVP.
And indeed he did. MMA went on a killing spree and slaughtered four people of ROOT, punishing them with hellion and widow mine openings, bio/mine compositions and his signature multi-pronged medivac drops.
Once Acer got dangerously close to an MMA all-kill, ROOT decided to revive Sage and have him play a rematch against the Terran ace. Using a powerful Colossus ball, Sage won back one set for his team and after playing a long-macro game against Bly he made the score even, 4-4.
With everything down to the 9th game, Acer used their revive to bring back... MMA, for a second rematch against Sage. The two battled back and forth on Akilon Flats until MMA lost a critical engagement in the middle of the map, allowing Sage to drill through with Archon/Stalker army, climb the ramp and steal the series for ROOT Gaming and getting the two-part all-kill.
